Repeat Prescriptionsorange_pills

There are a number of options open for patients on long-term medication to re-order repeat prescriptions:

    • On-line using the Patient Access system
    • In person - clearly mark the items required on the tear-off part of your prescription and drop it in to the surgery,  or into our external letterbox when we're closed.
    • By post - send it to us with stamped addressed envelope if you want us to post it back to you.
    • Via local pharmacy collection service - please discuss with your local pharmacy as they may be able to help 
    • By fax - 01993 706610

From November 2012, we will no longer be accepting telephone requests

for repeat prescriptions.       

This decision has been taken following the recommendation of our medical defence union, as there is potential for significant or dangerous mistakes with misheard drug  names over the telephone.

 

The doctor has responsibility for every prescription they sign, and there may be instances where an item you request is not prescribed for you again due to clinical or other reasons.  

 

Please can we remind patients that it is their responsibility to check that repeat prescriptions have been issued as requested.  If a patient asks another person or pharmacy to collect their prescription from the surgery, this is still the patient's responsibility.  Please be aware that dispensed items cannot be return or the prescription charge reimbursed by the pharmacist.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.

Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

Please allow two full working days for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account. For example, prescriptions ordered on Friday will be ready on Tuesday afternoon.

If you have asked for the prescription to be sent to a local pharmacy, please allow extra time for this to occur as some local pharmacies do not do daily collections from the practice.
